I Wish I Could Have A Smart Car

So as soon as we can afford it, my husband and I are going to trade in our van for a small car – for me to learn to drive on. Now I just need to pick a car. I have always wanted a Smart car, but it just is not practical as a family vehicle. My plan is to research cars and pick out a few that I like, then check out their safety ratings. Right now there is only one car on my list: the Honda Fit.

I Never Saw The War

I Never Saw The War

I never saw the war.

Was never unlucky enough,
To hear the cries of young children,
Being torn away from their mothers and fathers,
By soldiers or by death.
Never smelled the rancid scent,
Of bodies being burned,
Just for having an existence,
Or for living differently.
Have never felt what it feels,
To have the ones I love,
Ripped out of my arms,
And separated from me forever.
But I have heard stories,
And I have been taught,
So I do realize,
Just how horrible a war can get.
With soldiers lying still,
Having lost their lives,
Fighting for others that they never met,
How can we forget how horrible war is?
How can we forget how brutally people died?
How can we forget families who lost each other?
On days of rememberance,
Let’s not forget what happened then,
So we can prevent it from happening now,
Or again, at any time in the future.

I never saw the war,

I hope I never have to.

I am unsure of what to write about tonight. I am positive that other bloggers go through this same challenge during NaBloPoMo. I think there should be a post somewhere with a whole bunch of post inspiration written somewhere. Because right now, I am completely blank as to what to write.

My Life List (part 1)

I’m following a blog called Carrie Actually, and this woman is fascinated by something called a ‘life list’. It’s basically a long list of things you wish to do at least once in your life. Her fascination has inspired me to start one of my own. It’s going to take me awhile to actually get an entire list of life wishes together, so it’ll probably be in more than one post. But here are the ones I can think of so far:

  1. Get my driver’s license, FULL driver’s license.
  2. Get my son baptized.
  3. Find out how to control my migraine headaches.
  4. Move out of my parents’ house.
  5. See the day that my son finally has a full-toothed smile. (yes I know he is still really young, but he’s been teething for almost his entire life and I can’t wait to see the fruits of his pain)
  6. Swim with dolphins.
  7. Go to Halifax, Nova Scotia.
  8. Go sight-seeing in Paris, France.
  9. Learn to cook more than just a handful of meals.
  10. Own a house that has the aspects that my husband and I so desire.
  11. Buy a car, for myself.
  12. Go to a spa.
  13. Get a professional massage.
  14. Become fluent in French again.
  15. Take a vacation, just me and the husband.
  16. Write the novel I’ve had writing itself in my head since I was a teen.
  17. Get a puppy.
  18. Get a kitten.
  19. Teach my son to ride a bike.
  20. Walk in the emerald fields in Ireland.
  21. Get my degree in psychology or psychiatry.
  22. Finish the embroidery I started for my brother and his wife.

I’m currently obsessed with Lynn Viehl’s Darkyn series. I borrowed the first book from the library and told myself I wouldn’t read another one from that series – it had some pretty gruesome scenarios in it that frightened me quite a bit. But I couldn’t help myself. I picked up another book from the series. They are so well written and the characters so well defined that I can picture them in my head as I write this. I’m reading my fourth book from the series. It’s not the fourth book of the series, as I’ve skipped the second and third because they did not have them at my library. I just can’t stop reading them. I definitely recommend these books if you are into vampires and the like. I always have been, and Ms. Viehl’s take on them is so unique that it makes other vampire tales seem pitiful in comparison (at least to me). Definitely give her a read.

The Past Revisited

So I thought I would share a link to my old blog. Maybe someone wants to read it, maybe I’ll read it over again and get some inspiration for this blog. Here it is:

For Christmas, I never know what to tell my family to get me. This year though, I think I know what I want. A Kobo reader. I love books and have tons of them lying around that I have read. I feel that it would be awesome to have them all in one, easy to carry place, like an ereader. I read some great reviews about them and almost every book I want to read is available for it. I think it would be the perfect gift for me.

We have a Walker!

My son has been taking a few steps here and there, sporadically, for the past couple of weeks, but today he spent a LOT of the day walking. He still is not yet completely walking, but he’s getting there. I am so proud of him. He’s making a lot of progress in such a little short time. I guess that is how it always happen, though, right?

He’s also getting SEVEN new teeth. It’s crazy. No wonder he is no longer sleeping through the night. It all makes sense now.

We spent the entire day visiting friends of my husband’s that we haven’t seen in over a year. It was a really long day. But extremely worth it. We all had a good time.

But tonight is day light savings. I’m still confused about whether or not T (short of Turkey, my son’s nickname) will be waking up at 5:30am or 7:30am if he wakes up around his usual 6:30 am. SO CONFUSED. I’ll get it one day, hopefully.

Short and sweet posts huh? I really need to start making this blog into something, like get it to have a purpose of sorts. It’ll come together someday, hopefully *sigh*.

Why a blogger now??

Day four of my blog and I already do not know what to write about. I realize that there are, as of now, no readers but I still want this blog to mean something in the grand scheme of things. I’ve just decided what to write about.

My previous blog. I started it in grade 11 and wrote in it for about 5 years, I think. It started out as mostly poetry with some of my favourite lyrics thrown in when any fit my life at that time. I really enjoyed it. Towards the end of that blog it was mainly just, what I called, mindless ramblings. Things I needed to say just to get them out of my head and off my mind.

Now I’m blotting mainly in the hopes of getting to know other bloggers or commenters. I guess I feel pretty isolated and completely immersed in raising my son. Not that I am actually isolated, because I’m really not. I go out often. Mind you the Turkey (my son) is usually with me. Anyways, I guess I just want to meet/get to know other people, from anywhere. This is coming out wrong, I think I need some sleep. Night all.
